Here's an interpretation of the Buffy Striper Slayer using natyral materials. I've come back to using natural materials because I can manipulate them to achieve many more effects that with synthetics.

BUFFY FLATWING

Using Jeff Smith’s tying directions for his Buffy the Striper Slayer, I tied a Buffy Flatwing using natural materials.
Tying steps as follows:

Tiers note: Bucktail is from the front portion of the tail in all cases for this fly.

1. Tail: Tie 30 hairs of long white bucktail to top of hook, spin and flair slightly. Next, tie in one long narrow white saddle. Then two strands each of silver and chartreuse Flash. Finally, one long narrow pale blue saddle.
2. 1st Collar: Long white bucktail very sparse immediately in front of tail.
3. Body: Red Mylsr braid. Build up braid at front of body.
4. 2nd Collar: Cream yak hair tied in a very sparse collar immediately in front of body. Trim slightly shorter than the saddles in the tail.
5. 3rd Collar: Bottom, long white bucktail; top, long olive bucktail; sides, long bright pink bucktail
6. Topping: 7 strands peacock herl
7. Eyes: Jungle cock
