Bad day turned good
'' cod trip 2003 ''
It all Started by Mr Macy made a topic on cod fishing.. So I said we would go and asked my dad and he said it was ok, so a few others signed up also, Macojoe, Ri Popper, and a few other people went with them. So about a month goes by and the trip is the next morning.. goto bed early, I could not sleep a wink that night I was sooo excited about the next morning, my alarm goes off around 4:30, I get up and get dressed extra warm for the long day of cod fishing. Than i go out side and i see the boat, It was coverd with ice and it looked really cool. Packed to rods into the boat along with the gps and fishfinder. Dad says '' Lets go '' i said ok and we got into the truck and where off. Truck ran fine boat was hooked up good, me and my dad going back and fourth saying everything that we needed and to see if we forgot anything. Both me and my dad had the biggest grin on our faces as we drove to the ramp. We get to the ramp and see macojoe and mr Macey boat, i'm shaking i'm so happy at this point. So we pull up next to the other boats get out and meet the guys and shoot the breeze for a while waiting for RI Popper to come, So he comes we meet him and than we start talking about putting our boats in, My dad says we should wait for a while because it was low tide, other guys say they are going to put it in. Mr Macey starts to put his boat in and his trailer falls off the leadge but he gets his boat off fine, next in MacoJoe gets in fine , that RI Popper goes in. So we are they only ones left My dad is still thinking wheather to put the boat in or not, So than my dad say we are not puting in the boat at such a a low tide.. than all the guys were like '' comon like put her in... so than my dad say ok....i was out of the boat backing my dad up and BAM my dad say ^%$#@ i lost my break's i said no way... i was soo mad inside but dident want to say anything because i dident want to make my dad feel like he let me down.. so luckly the e-brake worked on the truck and my dad guned the gas and pulled the boat back up.. parked the truck and got out of the truck to tell the guys that we could not put her in.. Mr Macey offerd to put us in.. but we would still have no brakes..So my dad told the guys that we might be able to get the brake line fixed.. but i though to my self it would never happen and the cod trip was over.. i was so mad and sad at the same time i dident no what todo with myself.. I dont think we said one word the whole way home... ( with no brakes at all sept for the e-brake witch was not working very well eather but my dad got us home safely. We pulled up to the house mom came running out of the house asking what was wrong.. my dad told her.. i walked into the house adn sat on the couch. Dad called a well know break place, they said they can have the truck fixed buy 11:00.. So there was hope.. than i was starting to get happy. hour late dad pulled up to the house, we hooked up the boat and where off!
we get to the ramp, Beautiful Out sunny!! high tide what more could u ask for? So i get into the boat , dad backs the boat down slides me off i start her up and dock her on the waiting dock dad got in adn we where off i called for the striped-bas team RI told us where they where and we were off.. saw Mr macy going about 100mph lol.. ok so we all meet up start jigging nothing but dog fish macojoe pulled in a 25lb cod early in the day.. so we kept moving around diffrent spots no cod still.. macojoes buddy was getting really sick so he in. So me RI Popper and Mr.macey started to get closer to plymouth because it was getting kinda choppy found some nice humps on the fish finder.. droped the jig and Bam fish on pulled it up keeper cod going about 26 inches after about an hour and a hafe we went in.. Me and dad get into some really really tight water , less that a foot! we went on the wrong side of the garnet.. i was freaking out lol my dad like can you see bottem!!! i was like yeahhhh..( say bottom and rocks!!! so my dad pulls the out drive up just so it is in the water and guns it.. took us about 3 trys to get out on the low water.. so where off again see Mr Macey stoped a ways up He in low water now too! he get out quick tho i turn the corner see RI Popper BEACHED!! i was like oh &*$#.. So Mr. Macy asked us for rope.. We gave him some he got close to RI and than Mr Macy had his boat semi beached he put on his waders got out and pushd off.. the current was wipping so it pushed him again on the beach ... by now RI's boat was all most out of the water Mr Macy get off the beach started her up and the give RI a rope and they start pulling him back to the ramp.. we get back to the ramp safe and sound got both the boat's on the trailer, talked for a while than they left.. me and dad got some food and talkd to some other fisherman for a while..so dad gets the truck backs down i drive the boat up on the trailer adn than we go back to the house talking all the way back on how much fun we had that day.. So all in all it was a great day with a bad start. I had a great day spending time with my Dad, and the other guys.. So if you have a kid take them fishing it will change there life and it will give them somthing to look back on , and somthing to tell there kids about. Because I no I will remember that day for the rest of my life.
