I work on the largest farm in the state, Moonstone is the name. We grow oysters down in Point Judith Pond. I've been on the farm for about five years. The farm has been selling since the early 90s. Before the farm I dragged on boats out of Point Jude. I read the paper, and happend to make one of the photos
This spring you should come on down. I'II give you the full tour.
Clammer is a commercial digger. Most diggers aren't in love with farming, unless they've got a lease for themselves. I could go on about the reasons why, but will leave it for another day.
As for hardshell clam farms in this state there aren't any that are doing anything on any major scale. The big clam farms are down south, with Florida having the real big ones. The Florida growers flood the market with clams which drives the price down--this I think would be clammers biggest grudge.
