About the alternate times, what's wrong with September and October?? If bathers bother you, you need to change your times to dusk & dawn rather than 10am - 3pm....the preferred fishing times anyhooo....not to mention big scuppers for table fare,,,,my bigger shore scuppers come as the sun cracks the horizon. I'm not familiar with your hood...but if you think hot summer water is your problem, find somewhere deeper or use a longer rod for more distance with a 3oz stinker............
but, I've snorkeled in 4-5 feet of water while scup were swimming all around me, eating all the life I shook up from the bottom while looking for Clammdigger.
