THe egg serves 3 purposes..
1- to give weight to cast far when needed.
2- it keeps what ever you are using as a lure from sinking to the bottom on a slow retrieve.
3- it helps you see where lure is when you are retrieving it.
if you make one make sure you rig it with the fat end of the egg facing the lure... it will cast better.
