RE:Fisherwomen, you weren't just whistling Dixie
I meant to get over to the airport, but everytime I started over that way, another school would be busting in front of the boat and you know how hard it is to ignore a school of busting stripers, lol. Did catch a few bigger fish, but they were definately running a little smaller today vs Saturday. Didn't matter, on the medium-light spinning tackle I had myself a ball. I'm going to try to sneek in a morning later this week and maybe I will put blinders on, or some really dark polaroids, so I don't see anything on the way to the airport, lol.
Back in the late eighties it was the same thing, but back then you had 14 inch bunker that filled the entire bay and the schools of busting fish were large fish. Back then I didn't have to travel far for the large ones. I used to launch in Hingham, set my gill net once or twice and drag live ones around Button Island and the flat in front. Every trip back then meant several nice fish and loads of big blues. I really miss that type of fishing, nother more thrilling than watching a big wake behind your poggie, watching the fish zig-zag back and forth trying to decide whether or not to take the bait. Times have changed, but I can't complain after a weekend like this one.
Thanks again for steering me up that way, tight lines.
