179, I haven't fished down there, but I was under the impression that there are alot of redfish and seatrout in the Carolinas, and that they were inshore thru most of the year.
A good idea might be to spring for a guided trip, which might open up a world of fish you and your dad didn't know about.
At the very least, you can find out what types of fish and fishing are around by seeing what types of trips are offered at that time of year. Those guys are generally pretty open and happy to answer questions.
Would be worth a shot.
