for live lining I would go e-glass or composite.There are a few rods out there with good flexable tips with good back bone that are resonably priced $30-50 on blanks.
If production rods is what you want take a look at the Shakespeare Uglystick TIGER Rods. They make a 7' spinning with a good flexable tip that can turn any fish out there and it also has fuji eyes
