and that extra 1,500 ft is leaving out the next 2,000 which goes to the top. That is off limits without full climbing gear and the NE face (in the photo) is MAJOR avalanche danger. If you look at the mountain photo I posted follow the left ridge up to the end of the spine. That is about 9,200 ft and the bowl that you drop into is appropriately named Super Bowl. It is awesome. Anything above that and you had better make sure the life insurance policy is current.
Scott Schmidt rappelled into that massive hourglass a few years back and made it. Barely...........
