I use various braids on all my conventional rods, cept leadcore and wire. I'll NEVERS go back to mono.

I put some gudebrod braid 45# on my SS5500 and although great and you feel everything you have to be very aware that at the end of the cast on the first crank that the line doesn't wrap around the drag knob. If you don't catch it the next cast your done ...I believe it is because the braids are so flexible.

150 yds is plenty even too much for live lining. With that much braid backing has many options. Some 17# mono or 20# dacron.

DO NOT CARRY THE NOSTRECH ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SPOOL. I HAVE SEEN WHERE THIS STUFF IS SO SLIPPERY THAT ALL YOUR LINE SPINS ON THE SPOOL AND ONE THINKS THAT YOUR DRAG IS BROKE. SINCE THERE IS NO STRETCH LINE AROUND A HARD SPOOL IS HARD TO TIGHTEN. BACKING REQUIRED.

I use the uni alot between mono/floro and braid. I like to tie the polamar knot to my hooks with all my lines because the line goes thru the hole twice and more durable.

Lots of luck, Beamie
