Actually, I thought you WERE being nice, so don't worry, I don't have rabbit ears. This fish has me PUMPED. I really understand why you're out there several nights each and every week. If you keep a fishing log, maybe you could put it in the Smithsonian one day.
This was a good debate. It seems to me that on any fish over 40 inches, it would be very difficult to guess the weight exactly. I would think that even a half-inch of girth would add several pounds when stretched over 40 inches. Can you guess the weight that accurately without a scale?
