Part of the reason for the confusion is that Abu Garcia, in their "infinite wisdom"

decided to call the BG level wind a "7000CL" even tho it's really a "7500" series reel, meaning 5.3:1 retrieve.

Any 7500 series spool will fit a BG7000CL. Whether it's the silver BG, the black 7500 C3 or the gold 7200.
