When you consider the rather drab color most of our local bait fish come in and factor in the often murky our local waters can be, I don't think color per se is what turns on fish. Especially night feeders like bass.

What I do think is that color translates into shades of light and dark. What may look like say orange over white or green over yellow to us appears as various shades of dark over light to the fish. Given the conditions one shade may be more visible than an other or look more natural than another. But to say the fish were really turned on to orange or chartreuse or yellow or hot pink I don't think is totally accurate.

Then again, it has been shown that sharks prefer bright colors over dark colors even though no natural food is bright yellow or orange. So what do I know.
