Anthony, From what I understand about stripers I don't think you are going to be seeing anymore of a "fall run" at this time of year. Even though there will still be pods of smaller fish and occasional larger fish cruising taking advantage of what bait will still frequent the warmer than average water. For the most part though the fall run is set off by the amount of light there is each day. It's something they don't learn, it's in them naturally. Like John R and some other guys can attest the big fish are hit or miss and you can usually find some resident schoolies or ones that just aren't quite with the program yet.
I hate it though. I had steady action all season with good size fish, the only real difference the fall run made for me this year was smaller fish that were always there and the bigger fish being more predictable.
This is just what I have learned from experience and from talking to guys who have been doing it a lot longer than I have
