timing

theres a particular time to cut your lawn that increases growth and encourages it to spread out..... then also theres a particular time to cut it to ->discourage growth and make it grow less.

also if you quit fertilizing the heck out of it like your trying to grow the worlds largest pumpkin thats half the battle right there.

i laugh at people out there pushing around a chemical lawn spreader with the grub killer included because that stuff makes grass roots not have to seek any depth in order to find nutients
so it grows shallow root structures that constantly have to be
watered and pampered and fertilized and cut....IE PRISONER OF THE LAWN....
>>> chemical fertilizers kill worms and is BAD!!!!<<<
think worms ...is the answer! they are the soil doctors ...you take your leaves (maple and others but no OAK LEAVES because of the tanic acid which retards growth) and you run your lawn mower over them where ever your lawn needs fertilization and grind them into confetti....a mulching mower helps... and let the worms do the rest. a 3 inch blade of grass shades out any weed.
