Question Drill Press Questions...

hi, this is my 1st post on this board, but ive been lurking for a while... anyway im about to build a full workshop for plug building. lathe with duplicator, compound miter saw, belt/disc sander, and... a drill press.
i have very little power tool experience, and im sure ive never used a drill press so im a bit lost looking at specs and figuring out what i need. maybe you guys can help...

i want to use it for drilling the hole for throughwiring. ideally i want to be able to make a jig to hold the plugs that i will mount on the drill press so i can drop a plug in, drill, turn it over, drill, and pop in the next one and repeat.
obviously this means i need a drill press that can fit a plug standing up with room for the bit. if i need to drill 10" plugs how large a drill press will i need? i see 8", 10", 12" models, which will be large enough?
does anyone out there have a good cheap drill press they use for this purpose?
any help advice or suggestions are appreciated.
