Some Professor

Years ago on Northern West coast rivers designed a baffled box for salmon roe. The fish were stripped of their roe into the boxes onsite and impregnated onsite then the boxes were set into the gravel..... this worked instead of stripping them in hatcheries then dumping them in the river as spry.
With the genetic/biologic capabilities of salmon why isn`t this method a standard? Probably labor and commitment of those involved.
