They are big, we had a lot over 12" and a couple of real big "sea monsters" as my kids call them. These things have to squirt 2 quarts of ink...It is amazing... I saw one under the pier where I was fishing that was downright scary. This thing was huge but I could not get her on the jig close to 2' long. We called here "the queen squid"
At one point I saw so many swim by if I threw my cast net, I don't think I could lift it it would be so full. There was a thick wave of them...the jig never made it down to the bottom. My face was black when i got home, kids got hosed good.

Lots of laughs! those things have good aim!
Guess what I had for dinner tonight?
I am going back tonight (if the weather holds...who the hell knows anymore) and look for the mother load. I don't need much more after last night but my bait dealer will trade me eels for local squid on a pound per pound basis. One good throw with my 18' cast net will put me in eels for the season

I think I may bring the smaller 14' net because I am worried I can't pick it up when then move in.
I like the local stuff for my fluke bait, it is much nicer then the stuff in the box which is from the west coast, washed and cleaned then boxed. This stuff is big and sweet and you get a killer strip bait from them not some thin wimpy thing.
