The Alert 11 leaves from New Bedfords Pier Three(Fishermans Pier) on a varied schedule this time of year. They have a web site Check Google Cuttyhunk Island....Alert 11. Also check with Capt. John Paul Hunter at Cuttyhunk Water Taxi 508-789-3250 for trips. I think he makes early and late trips so you can spend a good portion of the day there. Most of the houses are booked if they are open so not much chance for overnite but again, check Cuttyhunk Fishing Club and other links off Alert 11 site.
Watch the dog for ticks and yourselves as well. Keep the dog leashed unless well trained as there are deer on the island though not as many as before the Coy dogs showed up.
This time of year you could hit fish against the beach daytimes almost anywhere. It is still cool for beach bathing but if you get lucky and the sun shines there are beaches near the Ferry Pier on Sound side and on the entrance channel side. You may find fish right in the channel on a high outgoing in daytime this time of year. Later in season the fish move off but the day tripping swimming picnicing is great.
Not much open in early season for food. take it with you would be my advice.
I have fished and been around there for 60 years and it is a grand place to visit. Years ago the common man could find a ready place to stay and eat but today the place is over run with wannabe snobs who make it difficult but not impossible to enjoy.
