as a member of both parties i can see where you are coming from, i dont know how many times you have had "your" spot "stolen" by divers but i'm going to guess its a lot less than other anglers.
i'm going to guess that you dont know much about scuba diving. try talking the next diver that "steals" "your" spot on why they cant do their entry/exit at a different spot. you might learn something. about being "too polite" what does this mean, do you move when someone gets near, which could be mistaken as letting them go where you were
