I shot off an email to bootracs to ask about the rust concern myself with the metal frame and saltwater. I have a friend who uses them in freshwater and swears by them. He says they are much lighter than the korkers, more durable, easier to change out spikes. The only draw back he says is they take some time inititally to set up and attach to your boot but once you have them adjusted right they are golden. The korkers are akmost as expensive and need replacing every few years with heavy use and I hate the heavy feel of the korkers.
