I am the last person who should be asking this. Considering I haven't ever tried a conventional setup or built my own rod, but I am going to ask anyways.

I should have asked FishAddict when I fished with him, but here is good too.

What is the advantages of a spiral wrap and how does it affect the handling? Seems likely to spiral in your hands, especially if your are off on the spline at all
