Of course I know Gene Crupa, he was the innovator of the double bass drum set way back in the 40s, he had his own band also besides playing with Benny Goodman,
But he couldn't touch Buddy Rich in that area, Buddy Rich also started out with Tommy Dorsey, allong with a little known singer from Hoboken N.J., (Frank Sinatra )
Louie Belson was another great big band drummer of that area.
