i have a custom rod from ron at charlestown B&T, but you don't have to do that....I highly recommend the Penn 113hsp if you're trolling wire line. The reel has a chrome plated brass spool which holds up to the pressure of the wire and also prevents "crushing", which you can find in other reels. Ron has plenty of offerings...but I would personally stay with the 113hsp...the rod is up to you...be sure to get the carbon guides......wire will cut through a "benny"s rod like a hot knife through butter. The ugly sticks or penn rods will work, but I'm not sure if they will last through some hard fishing I use 50 yards of poly backing and 10 feet of 60# mono leader...that's followed by 100 yards of inconel wire, marked at 100 feet.. Knots are VERY important. Haven't lost one yet.......just my opinion.....good luck! If you haven't noticed....I love wire lining. By the way...I only troll tube and worm on wire line. remember.....only my opinion
