A bike?...try a donkey! you could bike around a little but my bet is it would be not worth the effort. An ATV maybe better. I doubt any of you could peddle up the hill anyway on a canel bike.

There is an old lady out there who drives around in a John Deer "aligator" it looks like this baby could run in the water as well as land. I walked. Some people have golf carts but you have to stay on the roads and that does not do much for you. Also, half of the island is private. There is a chain across the road so walking is your only bet.

Anyway, this is not a place where you are going to run around from spot to spot all night. getting from place to place is not easy. Your legs will ache and you could really hurt yourself if you try to hurry. A good pair of boots and a backpack are the way to go.

I went for 4 nights and took 1 surf rod, 2 reels and an ultralight set-up. (which was a joke for most of my time out there cause it was blowing 40+) You can rent places over there if you look around a bit. (go to the ferry website)

A backpack is a good idea. Walk to the spot, change into your waders when you get to the spot. Unless you have one of those breathable waders from orvis....I hear stories of guys walking 10 miles in them without sweating.

I picked out a couple spots each night and worked them over good. Let me tell you your legs are gonna hurt. If you have any difficulty getting around like to sit in the buggy all night or have heart problems..don't go.

Be prepared. In the late fall there are less then 50 people on the island and no resturants. the store is open a couple hours now and then.

bring some saftey gear...a hurricane whistle, space blanket, cell phone, water bottle. You could hurt yourself and not be found for a while.

One more thing...Get a fresh set of spikes for your korkers. Don't even think of trying to work that place without them.

If you go this is the kind of walking surface you can expect..there is very little sand on this island:
( took over 100 digital photos of the place)
