I never really paid any attention to the tide like bloo said if their in their in...... But I have caught squid in very shallow water I'm talking less than 2 feet. Wish I had a camera with me it was really something. They were almost translucent under the light. It was like I could see the sandy bottom through them thats how good they match. Sometimes when they are cruising the surface I make a snaggin rig with 3 or 4 trembles about 2/0 and snag them on the surface. Sometimes the squid never make it to the surface and stay deep so you gotta do some probing with your squid jig and put some time in. Sometimes they will be there and you just don't see them. So make sure you give it time. I have always caught squid at night never in the day. Sometimes I will know the squid are in but they don't arrive untill later in the night so i wait a couple hours for them to come in.
