jettyjockey18 hit some good points. You'll want to use a swivel at the end of your line with a mono leader between your offering and your line. The leader does a couple of things for you, it takes most of the beating and is easy to replace, it adds a tiny bit of stretch that braid doesn't offer and you should use a leader with a lower breakign strength than your main line so that you break the leader and $ave the braid.
Braid stands up well and lasts much longer than mono. I presently have two seasons on my Cortland Spectron, with no plans to change it next year.
