AnthonyN, there are a couple of other little tidbits you might want to know.

NEVER grab that line with a fish on the other end, or when snagged up, UNLESS you do a couple of wraps around your hand and then pull the fish too you. This will keep the line from sliding in your hand and possibly keep you from getting a nasty stingin cut in the salt!!!!

Some wind knots do come out, never pull the line tight to the knot just try picking at it a little at a time, sometimes the line can invert itself into a loop when casting. You will know when it happens as you will hear it, retrieve your line back in slowly and try and work the knot out. Sometime it can save you alot of money on a long cast. If it won't come out, Cut and re-tie.

Palomar knot is the best when attaching to a snap. I have never had it fail on me yet. I use strickly fireline now as I like it better. I have tried the whiplash but wasn't impressed with the lightness in the air as you cast and got a tremendous amout of wind knots. But I was fishing a much lighter test on spinning gear.
