I think its pretty funny when people think we are geeks. When you consider that most people's hobbies include watching TV and drinking beer (which is fun, don't get me wrong)... I'm not sure how fishermen are geeks.

I'm sure some of you guys listen to WEEI Sports radio here in Boston. On numerous occasions, they have ripped fishing. One time it was because they were talking about a Tarpon tourny on sports radio in Tampa.. recently, because the shark tourny got some play in one of the papers sports sections.

That's pretty funny coming from people who spend all there time watching and talking about sports. Playing sports? No, watching sports. You know, with their greasy, chip eating fingers smearing the remote... drinking a big Gulp they got from the local convenience store.

Fishing saltwater in a boat or by surf is a very active and complicated "sport"... I think alot people think of fishing as a can of worms and a red and white bobber and sitting at the local pond for hours without catching anything but a couple of sunnies.

I don't think they really know or appreciate what its like out there... and that's fine.
