When I was about 14 my father and I fished a blitz at a beach in Newport, big bass, lots of redweed... got balled up in weed, cranked the drag, cleaned the line... cast out my popper (probably on a wire leader

I was dumb then)
and my drag started screaming..... then pop!
Too bad... he took a mid 30lb fish.... probably would have been my first shore 30...
Almost 12 years later still stuck in the upper 20's for shore fish....

makes me mad just thinking about it....
