The bait run generally starts in the middle of Sept. where you would see a dozen or so flocks of birds working the pods of bait close to shore!!! And some early mornings you would see birds working as far as the could see!!!

I am seeing more and more bait every day moving into the inner harbor. Even saw a school of peanuts in tight and judging by the big bluefish that ate my herring chunk last night, I'd say that they know the bait is here. Lotsa spike mackerel still present in the river and harbor.
