RE:Back From Maine Today

The area we fish in Cohassett died over the weekend. Thursday night was good. The weather was pretty nasty, but I got 4 fish, including a 22lber. and a nice 24+lber.

The tides were really good for our spot over the weekend, but despite high hopes we caught no fish. I had a couple of light hits and one brief hookup friday, and not so much as a tap on Saturday. I'm kinda worried that the cold summer may mean an early end to our fall run, though I saw breaking fish at Wollaston Beach as late as Friday. But with nasty weather forecasted for the week, the local party may be about done. I hope I'm wrong.

That's about it... I'll probably start following the fish south, maybe head down to Rhody possibly this weekend. Too bad because I can hit the South Shore 3-4 nights a week. Doubt I'll make the hour and a half drive to and from Rhode Island more than once a week.

Oh well, there's a pretty lady and a lovely little girl that live in my house that I haven't seen much over the past few weeks... maybe I'll spend some of that extra time with them.

Hey, what make/model is your boat? John mentioned that it was an 17' aluminum tracker. I recently acquired my uncle's 16' aluminum v-hull tracker and was wondering if you'd done any modifications and/or what maintenance you do to protect it from the saltwater. I'm planning on exploring the freshwater options around here, but I'd definitely like to do some inshore work for stripers.

Sounds like a good trip to Maine. I'm headed up to Ontario for a week smallies and largemouth in a month. Can't wait.

Take it easy.
