The only difference between a league and a conference is how you spell it. It Eastern and Western Conference in the NHL and the NBA, its American and National football Conference in the NFL, and its the American and National League in MLB. You need that seperation to have your Championship series.
My Standards are that I want to see some good Baseball and ,as I stated before that I wasn't a fan of it at 1st, The wildcard has done just that. There is some interesting and exciting baseball going on in september.
The wildcard also offers the opportunity to have Playoff series like the Yankees/Red Sox or the Giants/Dodgers where that would never have happened before, where they are in the same division.
You also have to remember that after the strike year in '94 a lot of people didn't give a crap about baseball. With more teams competing for playoff spots AND playoff series, like the Yanks/Sox, has rekindled a lot of interest in the sport.
Sometimes change is good and sometimes its not. I think that the wildcard has helped baseball. I still hate Interleague Play but the wildcard has worked.
All in All I will agree to disagree with you
