For slinging heavy stuff get a tsunami 11' you can usually find them cheap for around $80 shipped on e-bay if your lucky enough. I got that setup with a 7001 Abu BG.
For getting into the lighter lures like 7/8-2oz I like my 8' and change GSB 108 1L. I had some of the butt cut and it works well with my Abu 6501.
On the lighter setup I have braid, only because I can't really put the pressure on with larger fish. On the heavy setup it's either 25# big game or 30# Yozuri, depending on where I'm going.
There really isn't a happy medium because one day you might want to throw some small bucktails in the slack water and find your casts only going 20'.
I've tried the smaller Tsunami's like the 8 and 9' conventionals they are ok but lack that extra "umph" on the casts and might make you forget how large that fish is on the other end.
If you go with Tica replace that tip. I've been the hero more then once on outings with friends when the tip just snaps off.
