When I was in college, I wrote a research paper on the Boston Harbor tunnel outfall pipe and it really left me dismayed at what I learned.
It has been quite some time now since I wrote the paper and the details of it are difficult to recall now, but at the time I thought, "Good God, they're going to destroy one body of water to save another, and a marine sanctuary, no less."
It seems that given enough time, we humans will leave our mark on pretty much every square inch of this world, and not usually for the better I might add.
