I've been using an old maroon 7000C3 for years. The new "cheap" 7000 is smoother. Either buy a C3 or just find a 7000 and replace the bushings with bearings(easy). Be sure to grab a couple of extra levelwind pawls,put one in a ziplock bag in the bottom of your surfbag,you'll need it(2 minute beach repair). Keep it oiled and don't leave it on the bumper of your pickup. The fall at 40 MPH won't kill it,but all the mashed parts will be expensive to replace

P.S. I don't think any 7000 has infinite anti reverse yet.
