I had an HMG graphite(brown blank) snap on me while casting a 10z plug. the rod was rated to 4oz. i believe what made the rod so lightweight was its thin walls.
purefishing(fenwick) replaced it hassle/charge free with the newere version which is the black blank, the SaltStick, which seems a bit more sturdy. I think it even has a more solid tip, for added strength.
