I use cheap spray paint. Spend your time working on the tail part .Good long buck tail . If your fishing it right your head color is gone in a half an hour anyway . and your sometimes lucky if the canal gods don't take a sacrifice every half an hour or so. If you plan on fishing the canal go for quanity over quality on the heads at least. This winter I'll be tying some 6 oz heads and lots of 5's. Mainly white ,black and I'm going to give black/ brown over orange a try.
