I just got my costly shimano reels back from the factory today for their annual service.

All of them were cleaned, serviced and repaired and shipped back to me...no charge. Most had a few minor parts replaced an one had a more serious gear replaced (but they seemd to work fine as far as I was concerned)....One reel, the one I use nearly every day from the surf was "REPLACED FROM SERVICE STOCK" with a NEW reel at no charge! This was a 3 year old stella 6000....(they did put my old spool on though...which had line on it) I have sent it in for service each season and they took care of it. There was a note that said please service this reel more often. (included were several free service coupons as well.)

I expect some charge from the other lower end shimanos but these guys take such good care you with the high end stuff it is worth it IMO.
