Anytime, men - I thought you'd enjoy it!

Striprman, the bad news is: the only photo in the entire account is unbelievably bad - it's a belly shot of the underside, that's it - no profile of the bass, no photo of Mr. Church himself hoisting the beast........nada.

But the good news is that as a result of posting the story we've been made a generous offer of a photo of Mr. Church, the 73 lb. bass, the rod and reel he caught it on - and Mrs. Church, just for good measure. However, it's going to take some time to restore and remaster it - I'll keep ya posted and let you know as soon as it's done, we haven't seen the original yet but it appears to be pretty good

And I think you'll also know the donor well, too It really is a nice offer and very much appreciated!

Oh, as for it being a boat fish - and I've been expecting to hear from Eben on that detail - well, if you land a 73 from a 13' boat using oars in a heavy sea.....yeah, it counts

Glad you all enjoyed it!

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
