The major draw to Alconites for me is that teh frame is made out of a higher grade of steel than HArdaloy's (the same used on the SIC guides). They are lighter, more corrosion resistant & sexier than HArdaloy's. lol. THey cost more, but not by that much.

Billy definitely builds a "SEXY" rod!!!
Billy turned me on to the Alconites a while back and while I have only built one rod with them so far I definitely like them.
I only wish they would make a 50mm!!!!!!
As far as the Aftcote goes. Everything Dave and Billy said I totally agree with. If your someone who takes their time applying the finish you wont get caught with the brush stuck to your guidewraps like with other finishes!!!
