USS San Francisco

Many of you might recall the sub that hit a submerged ocean sea mount at 30+ knots a couple weeks back. One sailer was killed and many seriously injured. There was also scuttlebutt that they were lucky to surface the boat and not sink with all hands lost.

For those with the bandwidth, check out the Hi Res image and look at the torpedo doors. I'm not a sub guy but I imagine they must run around loaded with at least one or two warshots ready to go.

Damn those boys were lucky. Good and lucky.
