yes, it's too big. there is rarely if ever a need for a size 20 tip. the whole point of having guides on the spinning rod is to quickly compress the line to a straight line. with a size 20 or even 16 tip the line is still about 1" in diameter, rovolving like it was coming off the reel. you are losing energy and distance. the idea is to get the line as straight a line as possible coming out of the tip. trust me, you will gain in distance. it's been proven.

why would i want to bring my barrel thru my tip? i want my barrel to stop at the tip so i don't have to keep pulling it out each time i bring it thru.

the sic 20mm ringed tip is heavy and will also lead to a top heavy feeling rod, especially in the cast follow-thru where the rod "bounces" up and down until the energy from the rod is released.
