If you really want to see how steroids have changed sports, go the the Pro Football Hall of Fame website and check the weights of some of the all-time great linemen and linebackers, and compare them to the average weight of guys playing those positions today.

John Hannah--265 lbs
Forrest Gregg--249 lbs
Dan Dierdorf--275 lbs
Rosey Brown--255 lbs
Larry Little--265 lbs
Ron Mix---250 lbs
Anthony Munoz--278 lbs
Jim Otto--255 lbs
Jim Ringo--232 lbs
Art Shell--265 lbs
Gene Upshaw--255 lbs
Mike Webster--255 lbs
Ron Yary---255 lbs
Carl Eller--247 lbs
Mean Joe Green--275 lbs
Deacon Jones--272 lbs
Howie Long--268 lbs
Bob Lilly--269 lbs
Merlin Olsen--270 lbs
Alan Page--245 lbs
Andy Robustelli--230 lbs
Jack Youngblood--247 lbs
Nick Buoniconti--220 lbs
#^&#^&#^&#^& Butkus---240 lbs
Jack Ham--225 lbs
Jack Lambert--220 lbs
Sam Huff--230 lbs
Ray Nitschke--235 lbs
Mike Singletary--230 lbs
Lawrence Taylor---237 lbs

Look at some of the current players who play the same positions:

Larry Allen, Cowboys--325 lbs
Adam Timmerman, Rams--310 lbs
Damian Woody, Lions--325 lbs
Benny Anderson, Ravens--345 lbs
Chris Dishman, Rams--375 lbs
Jamaal Jackson, Eagles--330 lbs
Frank Middleton, Raiders--330 lbs
Orlando Brown, Ravens---370 lbs
Chad Clifton, Packers--330 lbs
Jonathan Ogden, Ravens--345 lbs
Jon Runyan, Eagles--330 lbs
Sam Adams, Bills--330 lbs
Grady Jackson, Packers--340 lbs
Fred Robbins, Giants--330 lbs
Ted Washington, Raiders--365 lbs

The Ravens' offensive line averages something like 330. You can count on one hand the number of offensive linemen in the whole league who weigh less than 300. Munoz is the heaviest Hall of Famer at 278. And you could say the same for defensive tackles. Not many under 300. Defensive end is more of a speed position, so they've held at around 280, average. But, you'd never see guys like Eller and Youngblood at under 250 playing DE today. Linebackers like Lambert and Ham, they'd either play safety, or not play at all.
