I found this reading to be indispensable. It's the NC/SC version of "Striper Hotspots." Too much information. I believe this book is available from the Surfcaster.

Also, tackle shops down there are invaluable. They more than happily will point you in the right direction in terms of areas to cover as well as techniques.
