It wasn't three years ago that most fisherman I spoke with((guru's of fresh and salt)) when asked if they noticed a difference when useing flouro for
bass... they said NO. I think we can all agree bass are leader shy but if a fish isn't leader shy the leader does not matter. I know commerial togers that do pretty darn well with out flouro. Portugues handlining scup/seabass made a living,, NO flouro. I spent many hours fishing next to them in buzz bay and watching them catch many totes fish. IMO fisherman today want fast results. I agree with you guys enough can't be said about confidence, I'm very confident that rope is very good for togs.....you never have to worry about abrasion either
The term 'don't knock it till you try it' also applies to old school rigs & methods.
