Funny you should mention "sand plume." I was going to post the question, "What is really in those little bottles that feature the 'pink sand' of Bermuda?" The fact is, that the "pink sand" containes a whole lot of parrot fish excrement. When you watch those BIG bump-headed parrots swimming away, you often see them "crop dusting" the reef.
