Yes its 3% - and its the best deal going unless you want to get a merchant account and a payment gateway. PayPal sales dominate EBAY. You look for another route but it better be seemless.

If you are an online only merchant, (like me) you are considered riskier because you are not swiping the card in person - so MC & VISA are around 2% (2.38% sounds right) plus monthy fees if you don't do a certain volume. Amex is even higher that's why so few places take it.

So....to make a 10% profit on an item you need to mark up an item about 14% - because anything you get wholesale that is destined for a PayPal transaction is automatically depreciated by 3%....If you are selling an item on Ebay don't forget to factor in those insertion fees too!

See - we don't need to make anything in this country! We got corporations charging high fees for mechanized transactions and their not paying nearly any tax on the profits! Sure beats making a durable good.
