If your going to use it for herring or eels....I'd get a dip net and use it standing up. They both like to swim in circles. Also recommend putting a Schedule 80 bulkhead fitting as close to the vertical bottom of the drum as possible and fitting it with same size ballvalve and plug. This to be used to draw off ammonia from herring or slime from eels. Standing it up makes it more stable.
