here's my 2 pennies.....when using a conventional setup it's a good idea to have a rod and a half length of shock leader ( 10 or 15 pds heavyer then what your spooled up with. This will let you transfer for energy into your cast without loosing your rigs & jigs and when a fish takes you in the rocks he's your chances are better of him not breakin off........The blood knot is excellent for this and very easy to tie.... when I'm throwin lures,eels and jigs I'll have a swivel before flouro c or wire......Mono = Bass.....One menthod I recently picked up last year while fishing the canal is using pyrimid sinker with wire attached. This is a bottom fish finder rig, instead of using bank sinkers try these out. There's 4 wires that stick out of the sides of this pyrimid sinker that help it grab the bottom, the wires then release with little effort. Give'um a try they hold well in curent. Also, a good thing to do to your jig's is this....wrap solder ( used on cooper pipes ) around where the thread holds the bucktail....be sure to put enough so that when the blues are around they don't ruin your jigs, it'll also give you a little added weight.......so many ????'s .......and so little answer's.....teach me please!!
